During the days, our group conducted multiple days of field research in Alexandra Township, Johannesburg, with multiple research teams wandering the townshipwith community members. Luke and Lutendo managed our chaos with the perfect balance of flexibility and caution. The experience would have failed without their skill, patience and expertise.
At night, Luke arranged a perfect housing option that fit our budget and location far better than I could have imagined, let alone planned on my own. He also arranged genuinely authentic experiences, from unique lunch and dinner venues, to great nightlife that made us feel a genuine part of the city.

Luke Angel and African Angel Tours have been pivotal in our development of a 3 ½ month Study Abroad Programme in South Africa for students at Eastern Illinois University.

Andiswa located the ideal conference location for my needs for 60 individuals. From the airport pick up, touring the City of Johannesburg, to meals location, everything was superb! Thank you for two wonderful tours on the beautiful continent of Africa! Both of my trips have been experiences of a lifetime. After I visited in December 2016, I knew that I wanted to come back! I just had no clue that the six of us would grow to 11 family members and close family friends, but a great time can’t be faked so others joined in!
As one of family members put it, we had a family reunion in our ancestral homeland. I appreciate the wonderful time that I’ve had from not just an entertainment perspective, but I was also enriched from an educational, cultural, political, and spiritual point of view.

From the moment I was picked up at the Cape Town airport until the minute I left, my time spent with Luke was as enjoyable and educational as possible. I couldn’t think of a better way to experience South Africa than in Luke’s conscious, gracious and easy company. He truly lives up to his last name.

Let me start by offering a big thank you for all you and your team did to put our African trip together for us. Everything fell into place flawlessly and we had the most amazing time. I believe that we learned more during this trip than on any other travel experience we’ve had. From the gripping passionate feelings in Soweto and Robben Island to the majestic safari experiences and the powerful Victoria Falls, we were on an emotional roller coaster!
All along the way, the people in Africa were delightful; happy, courteous, helpful and well informed. Every driver, every tour guide, even the people in the immigration offices taught us something. And Ebriham, what a wealth of first-hand knowledge and a fantastic travel companion. We couldn’t have asked for more – our expectations were definitely exceeded.
Laura and I will be telling stories about this trip for years to come. I’ve already shared our itinerary with friends who are interested in a similar trip.
Without question this was one of our best vacations. We were a group of 16 and from the moment we arrived in Johanesburg, Luke and his team at African Angel Tours made us feel welcome. During our 15 day tour we explored Johanesburg, Cape Town, Zambia and Botswana. A few highlights included visits to the Apartheid Museum, Soweto, Table Mountain and Robben Island.
We saw the Big 5 at Kruger National Park. Hiked Victoria Falls and sailed down the Chobe River.
The team was incredible and their love of country, nature, and the animals is evident. Everyone at African Angel Tours is proud of what they do and it shows. Special mention to our guides Tefo and Arlene and to our drivers. This was a trip of lifetime. We are definitely doing future tours with Luke and his team.
